A team that was once top of Germany now lay low in the amateur divisions, and the blame can be pointed at anybody. But can you overcome these problems, and restore a buried past?

Germany is a nation rife with history, some good, some bad. One of the bad moments however heavily overshadowed the nation’s football, halting everything in its path. The challenge today is to create the final winner of pre-WW2 German football and take them back to the top.

Dresdner SC is a Dresden-based club formed in 1898 that won the 1943-44 German championship. However after the war, all teams were banned from playing, and so Dresdner reformed as SG Friedrichstadt. However, a 1950 east German final would obliterate the team’s existence, as anger boiled over against the Soviet-funded side ZSG Horch Zwickau. Zwickau played a violent game, chopping and hacking at every Dresdner player, and the match ended in a 5-1 defeat for Dresdner, who finished the game with 8 players. The Dresdner spectators would invade the pitch and brutally attack a Zwickau player, and just weeks later, the club was dismantled, and a message was sent out to everyone else in Germany that the Eastside was run by easily manipulated politicians and beurocrats.

The final lineup of the 1944 championship-winning side

After this conviction, all the players went off in separate directions. Some went to already large teams such as SG Mickten, others went to smaller clubs, and a handful went to a fabled ‘safe-haven’ club named SV Deutsche Volkspolizei Dresden.
However, in the background, a new beginning was happening, and the new Dresdner SC was formed in time for the 1991-92 season. The team reached the former 3rd division (now 4th) in 1998, and finished 2nd in 1999-2000, briefly being a larger club than Dynamo Dresden. However they were relegated in 2003, and since 2012, the club have been left stranded all the way down in the 7th tier of German football. A harsh end for a mistreated club, and a final bullet put straight through the heart of a plucky little side.

Old versus the new badge of Dresdner SC

Now however, you must recreate this club in FIFA. Put them in the 3. Liga, and for some extra fun, swap Dynamo Dresden and Eintracht Braunschweig before you being the season via the league editor.
The club plays with a red and black badge and a red and black striped home shirt with an all-white away kit at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion.

Some more info on the club

Best of luck, and remember, that war never changes.

Create Dresdner SC with a red and black theme and put them in the 3. Liga, making their rivals Dinamo Dresden if you choose to swap them about with Eintracht Braunschweig, or FSC Zwickau if not.

Give the team a 1-star squad, €/£/$1m, and put them in Town Park, but name the stadium Heinz-Steyer-Stadion.

Win the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and as an extra challenge, the Champions League. But the German titles are the main focus here.

Extra challenge:
Beat Dynamo Dresden and FSC Zwickau at every possible meeting, if you lose, list as many starting XI players on the transfer market as goals you lost by (I.E. list 2 if you lost 3-1, list 4 if you lost 6-2).
