PHOENIX FROM THE FLAMES – BURY FC CHALLENGE

Bury FC. From a regular EFL side to now not existing anymore. Can you bring back Bury FC to life?

It’s been two years since Bury Football Club’s expulsion from the football league at the hands of Chairman Steve Dale, following two decades of financial trouble at the club across multiple custodians. The events shook the whole of the football league pyramid and reminded everyone just how fragile the organisations we love so much can be in a modern football world where finances are as precarious as they are paramount

Fans from all over the country came together to condemn the neglect of Bury FC

Two years on and little progress has been made to bring the club out of its dormancy. Gigg Lane has fallen into disrepair, the 12,000 seater stadium a monument to the demise of a football club with over a century of history.

Two years on and little progress has been made to bring the club out of its dormancy. Gigg Lane has fallen into disrepair, the 12,000 seater stadium a monument to the demise of a football club with over a century of history.

But, there is still hope. A consortium headed by supporters group Est 1885 recently announced it had entered into a period of exclusivity to purchase Bury and its stadium, giving Bury’s fanbase a real boost.

In a statement, the group said it was confident of completing the takeover by Christmas and hoped the club would be reinserted into the footballing pyramid in time for the 2022/23 season. This is where your Create a Club challenge begins.

Storyline
Like a phoenix from the flames, Bury FC is rising once again. The supporters group Est 1885 have successfully completed the takeover of the club, and have found their first choice of coach to take them forward; you. Your target is to safely establish them in EFL League 2 with a 0.5 star team scrambled together in time for the first season, while ensuring they remain financially secure and invest in their Youth System.

Goal
Establish Bury FC back in EFL League 2 by avoiding relegation in the first season, secure its finances, and then build your way up the English football pyramid to restore pride to a once successful club. While doing this, restore Gigg Lane back to its former glory and expand it based on your success with the challenge

Gigg lane was once a beautiful home to a club rooted in history – can you restore the ground and bring back its pride?

Rules
– You must start your CAC challenge with a 0.5 star team in EFL League 2 – as a phoenix club, Bury FC will be very weak from the start and will need to build strength over time.
– No financial takeover options are allowed with this challenge.
– Only scout players in the UK so long as you remain in the football league. If you get promoted to the Premier League in future seasons this rule is then removed,
– Only sign players on wages under £2,000 per week for the first two seasons
– Keep the club running at a profit for the first two years (check the FINANCES tab in your Career Mode)
– You must always have at least five players in the first team under the age of 22
– Use the primary home kit colour of white with blue trim.
– Restore Gigg Lane back to its former glory by naming your stadium accordingly and giving it Bury FC colours. It can potentially double in size for every three league titles won over the course of the career.
– Don’t use scouting websites like Sofifa.com etc.
